This is a 'ladder lottery'.
You need to add horizontal lines to it in order to reunite the lost little ones with their mothers.

Why not start by helping the mother and baby that are the farthest away from each other?
How many lines would you need to add to help the baby deer at the top-right reach its mother at the bottom-left?

By adding four lines, you can reunite the two deer.
Having done this, the only pairs not reunited are the bears and the birds.
How many more lines do you need to add to bring them back together?

With the deer still able to reach each other, add a horizontal line right at the bottom, joining the second and third lines from the left.
Now everyone is reunited.
The answer is '5'.
